Chinese New Year – the Year of the Rat

Chinese New Year 2020 is the year of the Rat! This year the Chinese New Year celebrations, marking the beginning of a new year, will be held on January 25th. Based on the Chinese lunar calendar we will be celebrating the year of the Rat! The Rat is the first sign of the zodiac and is a symbol for vitality! If you are born in the year of the Rat you might be industrious, thrifty, diligent and positive!

The Chinese New Year also referred to as the Spring Festival, is all about coming together, reuniting with family, eating delicious traditional food, and wishing good luck, wealth and happiness.

It is a perfect opportunity to incorporate Chinese traditions and culture into your daily practice where children, teachers, and whānau will all enjoy being immersed in the cultural festivities throughout the day.
